Julianne Harper is a born and raised Canadian artist from Victoria, BC – arguably one of the most beautiful places on earth. She is inspired every day by the natural elements that the island offers, and this is translated into the colourful and moody abstract art that she creates. The ocean, sky, beaches and forests are all characteristics that she is inherently and emotionally drawn to and bring her a feeling of calm, peace and grounding in a world filled with so much uncertainty and adversity.
Julianne has always been in touch with her senses throughout her life; her love for animals and nature is second to none. In the early 2000s, she battled drug and alcohol addictions, which she overcame and has been completely clean and sober for over a decade. Over the years in recovery, she channels her emotions and energy towards this medium. With an eclectic painting style, one will find a wide range of feelings through her art – some happy, colourful and uplifting – while others tend to be darker and moodier. The result is always dependent on her vision, state of mind, and emotions she is feeling while she is creating.
Julianne creates timeless, sophisticated, colourful and energetic pieces through various mediums, creating texture and depth in her work. Many of her past pieces also incorporate neon/glow-in-the-dark paints, allowing a piece to glow and change under certain lights. She works out of her in-home studio in Victoria, and is currently completing several collections and commissioned art for clients.
